Back on Friday the 13th – and no I’m not superstitious so I didn’t notice the date – I took the day off and went up to Mt. Bonnell overlooking Lake Austin. My main goal was to play with the video capability of the K-x, which so far I’ve found to be a mixed bag in terms of quality, and put together a short video for my gallery.
I’m not sure how hot it was (likely over 100 degrees) but the camera began to overheat after only a half-hour or so of shooting. Seeing as how I was also gushing sweat I decided to pack it in, but at the last minute decided to try out my other HD-capable camera – the iPhone 4. The results were impressive. The footage is not as sharp as that from the K-x, but was free from the chroma noise that plagues high-frequency areas of my K-x footage (hopefully upgrading the lens will help with that). I even included one of the iPhone shots in the final cut – can you guess which one?
