This is part of an ambitious project I shot for my first production-oriented class at UT. For this project, we were required to shoot super-8 and edit in-camera – we were not allowed to cut film. My plan was to shoot the kidnapping scene from the victim’s point of view in color, and then shoot it from the kidnappers point of view in black-and-white. I would turn in whichever reel came out better, and then get both transferred to video and edit them together to form a completed film.
Unfortunately, there were technical difficulties with the camera I had borrowed from a friend and we were unable to shoot the black-and-white side, or even the last shot of the color side which in the version presented here has been reconstructed in post. There was also the newbie mistake of forgetting to activate the No. 85 filter which results in the blue cast which I nevertheless find somewhat appropriate.
